I can’t believe i am the one asking this question.
Do you drink enough water?
I’ve never paid any attention to how much water am I drinking. In fact there were days on which I would not drink any.
That’s until the following insights came to my attention:
1) Once our brain realizes that we are not drinking enough water – it begins to store water in the body to prevent dehydration. In time our body develops a routine program to hold on to all water we drink for as long as possible. While we want to slim down – our body holds on to each and every water drop. I’ve certainly noticed this effect.
2) With dehydration our well-being and mood decreases. And what do we do to cheer up?
3) Our brain regularly confuses thirst for hunger. So what do we do?
4) Dehydration related joint pain is reported. Our cartilage and spinal discs are made of about 80% water. Keeping our body hydrated is an absolute necessity to keep our bones from grinding against each other with each and every step. By drinking enough water we ensure that our joints can absorb the shock of exercise, such as running or jumping.
5) Dehydration decreases our metabolic rate.
6) Drinking water allows our body to flush out toxins. If we do not fuel our body with enough water the large part of the toxins remain within our body. What is the best place to store toxins?
7) Dehydration leads to digestive problems: indigestion, heartburn and constipation. The constipation makes sure our body is getting poisoned over and over again. And you’ve just learned that all excess toxins are being stored in fat.
The list goes on and on: premature aging, heart problems, tiredness, concentration problems, you name it. I’ve just listed a few points which demonstrate it clearly that drinking not enough water does not allow us to lose weight.
So here is the question:
How much water is enough?
There are many different opinions on how much water we should be drinking every day. The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon.
General recommendations vary between half a gallon (2 liters) up to a gallon (4 liters) per day.
Please check how much water you drink on daily basis and make sure it is not less than eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon.
If you are like me, not drinking enough water because you forget about it all the time – get a water bottle with a timer, like this one, to be reminded regularly about your necessary water intake.
Convincing you to drink enough water, I’ve got inspired to try it out myself 🙂
Yes. I’ve got inspired to hold a 30 days, 1 gallon a day challenge to see what’s the deal with all this water and what changes will I see in my physical and mental state.
Who knows, may be drinking one gallon a day will make me stretchy enough to finally master this splits and get it over with the Battle FOUR!
